How to Care for Your Custom Printed Garments: Easy Wash & Wear Tips
At Ink & Needle Printing and Embroidery, we put care into every custom print we create—whether it’s for your business, event, or personal style. But to keep your prints looking fresh and vibrant, proper garment care is essential.
Here’s a simple guide to help you wash and wear your custom printed clothing the right way so it lasts longer and stays looking great.
Why Does Garment Care Matter?
Custom printed garments—especially DTF (Direct to Film) prints—are durable, but like any good thing, they need the right care. Proper washing and drying can prevent:
- Peeling
- Fading
- Cracking
- Shrinking
Taking just a few extra steps can double the life of your favorite printed t-shirt or hoodie.
🧼 Washing Tips for Custom Printed Clothing
- Turn the garment inside out before washing.
- Cold wash only (30°C or under).
- Use mild detergent—no bleach.
- Wash with similar colours.
- Do not overload the machine.
🌬️ Drying & Ironing Tips
- Air dry flat or hang dry—no tumble dryers.
- Iron inside-out (if needed).
- Never iron directly on the print.
- Use low to medium heat.
✅ Quick Do’s & Don’ts for Printed Clothing
✅ Do's | ❌ Don'ts |
---|---|
Cold gentle wash | Hot wash or heavy spin |
Air dry or hang dry | Tumble dry or high heat |
Iron inside-out if needed | Iron directly on the print |
Use mild detergent | Use bleach or harsh chemicals |
💡 Bonus Tip
Don’t soak the garment for long periods—this can weaken both fabric and print adhesive.
